The Keeping Digital Foundation (formely York Pi Jam) is the leading organisation for providing digital making activities in York and North Yorkshire. We were set up with the aim of supporting everyone with digital making activities and allowing everyone to develop digital making skills.
Our services now include providing digital making activities, supporting young people on how to keep safe online, working with the community to provide tech advice for everyone, supporting other digital making organisations and helping people get volunteering opportunities throughout our organisations.
Our teams of volunteers are here to provide these digital making activities, as well as support young people and their parents/guardians on how to keep young people safe online.
Although we recognise that our services are mainly popular with young people, our services are available to anyone who needs it and we are working on expanding our work to support every single person in York, North Yorkshire and for our e-safety program… England.
For the e-safety support we set up ‘Keeping You E-Safe’, which is there to provide information, advice and a list of our support groups. We’re also working on creating brand new educational resources to update the e-safety learning that is taught in York’s, North Yorkshire’s and England’s many schools.
We pride ourselves on our professional, responsive and innovative approach. Although we are relatively new, only being set up in 2016, our team have worked hard to provide a much needed service that has been finalists in the ‘Minster FM Listener Choice Awards’ and nominated for many other awards.
Our funding comes from the general public with no funding coming from the government or local districts.
